At Fundació Vivarium Raimon Panikkar we are all deeply saddened by the loss of Josep Maria Terricabras, a dear friend and also a generous benefactor of the foundation. He promoted the honorary doctorate awarded to Panikkar by the University of Girona, as well as facilitated the transfer of his private library to the same university. Both in Catalonia and Italy he held several conferences on Panikkar's thought. 

Terricabras, a famous philosopher and courageous defender of the rights of Catalonia and its language, left a profound mark as a politician and activist. He was the founder and director of the Ferrater Mora Chair of Contemporary Thought in Girona, an institution which he led until 2014, when he was elected to the European Parliament. His absence will be deeply felt and his legacy will live on in the memories of all who had the privilege of knowing him and working with him.
