Fragments from Panikkar’s Diaries
The title, The Water of the Drop, inspired by the metaphor of the ‘drop of water’ that the author often used, aims to convey the essence of the book, which traces not so much the events of Panikkar’s life (which are barely mentioned herein) as the path that led to the discovery of himself as ‘water’.
We are convinced, as Panikar says, that “A book is a drop in the ocean of the public opinion, a sincere prayer is a glass of water, but a book that is the fruit of contemplation can be a wholesome rain” (February 18″ 1996).

I hope many readers who meet him in these pages will share the sense of abundant and joyful vivacity which he so often conveyed to those who knew him, along with the sense of being intellectually and spiritually challenged to a degree that few other Christians writers provoke.
